I think IS DONE! Well, for the moment... still tons of work to be done! DIE ASSIGNMENT DIE!

While I wait for the water to boil in order to make semi-delicious green tea (hooray for odd sentence structure!), I think I shall tell you about Edward Scissorhands. So I went to watch Edward Scissorhands: The Musical yesterday. It's not a bad show, but the title is kinda misleading. Yes, there is music, and such lovely music as well, the whole thing has... no singing. Nor did it have any... talking. None. The whole performance was... ballet. Well, not ballet, though there were lines and pirouettes, with jitterbugs and charlestons scattered about. But yes, it was all dance. And acting. And dance. While not a bad thing, I expected different. So what's the verdict then?

Music? Brilliant. Terry Davis' interpretation of Danny Elfman's dark, whimsical score is nothing short of beautiful. It can make u sigh and can make laugh. It grows urgent, then lays itself gently like snow on grass. And there is snow. Adds to the magic.

Which brings us to props. Dancing hedges, an angel scupture, scissorhands, are just some of the magnificent props to further bring us into this dark illusion.

The characters were fantastic! Not having any lines did not hurt them at all, what with every character having a significant dance style. The ones I felt most interesting were the Evercreedies, whose religious fervour were well-defined in their haphazard gyrations of adoration. Ahem. And when the whole cast dances, every character has a story and it's really interesting to watch what goes on while the main character takes the stage. Edward was really good in portraying the bewildered and love-lorn Scissorhand boy, but the main stars I found, were the side characters!

Plot-wise, well, you would have to watch the film to understand the musical. It doesn't really make much sense otherwise. The little boy next to me looked so bored. No singing and talking remember? And the climax could have been more... well... climatic. I thought it too abrupt.

But it's not bad. If you like dance and crazy characters. And Edward Scissorhands. Go watch!
