The Mind Is A Dangerous Place

Things that should boggle the mind but do not

Firstly, Neil Gaiman's Anasi Boys is out. I would love to get it, but am pretty low on funds. It's sad.

Gloomy's bday today... so here's a shout to a cool guy... a very popular guy with many many frens. Happy Bday Bub... and cheh.

Also... didn't know there was a Bismee at Elizabeth... and it's pretty decent looking... though the food will give u diabetes... check it out if u can.

Finally...... uh... didn't win manifest Fanfic comp... was even close... sigh. And the bad news goes on. Saw candz though... and it alleviated my emptiness. Watched Howl's Moving Castle... and it was... sigh.. incoherent... like this blog.

A sufficiently cloudy day for a Monday, with tiny raindrops pinching at my cheeks and spraying into my bespectacled eyes. But it's not the Monday that is interesting here, but rather...

THE MANIFEST WEEKEND

So we begin with Saturday, where my feelings of gloom and doom were quadrupled when I found out I didn't get the fulltime job in the city. Certainly made my week it has. But let's not dwell on such trivialities like success and fortune.
Work finished with a bang, wang and something madam, and it's off to the city I go.... meeting up with the usual troupe for dinner. It was Manifest Saturday, which I couldn't go to but my frens did. And they were regalating all those stories which were quite funny actually.
Then it was off to DOTA!!!!!! DOTA!!!!!! Where I had a bad game. Sigh... was....so.... crappy.... After which, I met up with Steffie's cousin and cousin... cousins. Darren was a cool dude (doubled cool factor cause he treated us drinks) and Vivien was good company. I ordered a drink in Hairy Canary called... "LOVE YOU LONG TIME". A drink which I happily ordered with a raspy voice and seductive smile.
"I want a LOVE YOU LONG TIME."
If only the person taking our order was a woman.
Well, there was a woman waitress who came by to pass us our drinks and she asked what mine was. Which was my opportunity! I gave a baleful, sad smile and whined... "LOVE YOU LONG TIME", in which she beamed and gave me a hug, left and thought no more of me. Interesting world we live in.

Next morn was a Sunday, Manifest Sunday, and me, vale and neth went off to the multi-colored dimension that was Melbourne Uni. Along the way, our party picked up... Stef, Gabby, Rayner and Cheryl. Our troops swelled in size and soon, we could take over the world. With our 7 people. Hooray. We had pocky.
Cosplay comp was first and it was as usual hilarious. Funny skits, magnificent costumes and fun fun fun.

AND A FRIGGING GIANT KURONEKO (blackcat)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also bought a lot of rubbish... so much rubbish... rubbish I seriously do not need. But got good artwork so am happy with that. And cheap Berserk manga. I swear, we must have been in the traders hall for 3 hours. We made the shopkeepers' day I tell ya.

That done, watched some anime that was interesting.... er... Speed Grapher which was pretty fucked... and The Count of Monte Cristo which seemed AWESOME. I wanna watch that one now. Fired me up totally.

Hmmm... that pretty much sums up my manifest adventures. To recap... Cosplay, pocky, traders, poor, buy more, even poorer.

Oh yeah, I went up to two cosplayers by a corner and asked if I could take their pictures.... turned out one of them was crying. Talk about bad timing.
