Of Death and Dying

Steve Irwin is dead. The Crocodile Hunter is no more. It is a sad thing.

David Gemmell, King of Heroic Fantasy is dead. It is a sad thing. I shall miss his words dearly. Of the Drenai we respect him. Of the Rigante we mourn him. Of the other hundreds of characters, we shall miss him.

Lib

Torn between the heart and mind
The spirit seeks a way
The worry seeds and sprouts in time
To leave for far away
Where love is there and strong and willing
Here the heart is trapped
The mind is flitting from concern and timing
To take that single step

Taka

Maybe it isn't right
To take a hand, then let go
When all you've done is fight
But who can tell? Who will know?
And love might be a game
And feelings might be of words
Or it might not be the same
Love is simply absurd
So cry of what's misplaced
And in moments the sun will rise
The rays will warm your face
One day you'll realise

Candz (reprise)

Fingertips remember
The eyes know all
Words said in December
Fragile and small
The Fragility that frightens
The wind is strong
Arms about you tighten
The arms are gone
Promise and wail and rail
No more, you say, no more
Shadows grow long and stale
They whisper of whats in store
Say goodbyes with tears and smiles
Place flowers and move on
Remember that face, the tears, the smile
Remember the arms that are gone

Well, hopefully this would help organize my thoughts a bit better. Lets see...

FRIDAY

With Father's Day looming (on Sunday and what not), finally got my ass down to David Jones to buy my dad a nice striped Sportscraft Polo for $55 (on special). I bought a large size.... which didn't fit him. Thankfully I have the receipt so will change it soon.
Also, thanks to Fathers Day, always Fathers Day, good ole Fathers day, the store budget rose but a lot. Really, its a ridiculously high amount so that even with superbly good sales that day, target was still unreachable. Crazy selling that day I tell you. We worked HARD. And after a hard days work, I said goodbye to my colleagues and sauntered down to the carpark, thinking about the nice rest I was going to have.
I couldnt find my keys in my bag.
To my relief, they were in the car ignition.
THE CAR KEYS WERE IN THE IGNITION.

and the door was locked. damn u non-technology.

So I frantically called home, asked my dad to pass me spare keys, enduring taunts of "LOSER" by my sis on the conference system. He agreed to rescue me and after hanging up, I went back to the store to share my experience with my lovely colleagues, who pointed and laughed and did the "LOSER" thing as well. Then...

Manager: Hey, do you need help breaking into your car?
Me: Wha...?
Manager: Yeah, break into you car! Don't you know that?
Me: No?
Manager: You live a privileged life...
Me (asking another colleague): Do you break into your car?
Him: Yeah... with a screwdriver.
Manager: Volvo right? All we need is packing tape. Let's go.

We went down to the car where for ten minutes, tried to squeeze packing tape through the sides of the door in order to shimmy up the lock. It didn't work though. Apparently my car was too well-maintained.
All in all though, dad came by, I got my door unlocked and got home nice and safe and sound.

SATURDAY

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, the one, the only...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

ZORO

with the single R. Copyright and all that. Because the theme is "Supergifts for Superdads", so AnR hired Zoro (Me) from Spain to come help them out. I'm a semi-superhero, the less atheltic, shorter, less handsome, less acrobatic, less charismatic... Zoro.

The costume itself took a while to create. It was a little last minute, especially the hat, which was made from a white hat covered by strips of black cloth sewn onto it.... thus the odd lop-sided look.

So yeah, working in AnR as Zoro. I devoted myself to developing my Ferdinandez accent, concentrating on simple words like "Buenos Dias Senor, Senora, Senorita" and "Adios" and what not. And walked about selling books.

I had several types of responses.

1) The cursory glance as customers walk past me, which is quite interesting as they acclimatise to dark cloaked pple approaching them so darn quickly.

2) Those that back away. I am serious. It's like they don't even see me approach them. Their peripheral vision sees a black shadow hanging about but they dun register it until I come up to them. Then they take a second gander, realise what it is thats there, and physically take a step back. Hurts the heart it does. I have to reassure them I mean them no lasting harm. Have a 10% discount coupon.

3) Those that laugh. And ask questions. Its these pple I love. These are the fun ones, those that play. They ask if I get paid more, I reply saying I get paid in gold and donkeys. Its fun, using such banter. And the kids! They are adorable. Sure, some run away when a dark, masked crusader for his people walks up to them bearing stickers. But others are just beautiful. A little boy played hide-and-seek with me for a bit. Another boy kept asking me questions. Two little sisters compared winnie the pooh bears with me.
This little girl, saw me, and started giggling. And she wouldn't stop giggling. She was an angel that one. She couldn't talk! Just giggled. Ah... adorable.....

So yeah, worked hard, enduring many bad comments, graciously receiving the good... then the end of the day came. And we were $90 short of target. So we bought books. So many books. Boss is broke now.

Tired me had to go to a dinner at relatives' after work (after Zoro was thrown off my skin of course), was good dinner but when I got home and everything was done, it was 1.

I went to bed.

SUNDAY

Fathers Day today, where I got up at 10 to do my assignment. Didn't get around it til 1230..... and I did very little of it the whole day. Good ole procrastination. Instead of typig out words, I spent my time watching The Office, which is a superb series btw. Very funny. Very interesting. I also chatted with Ginny about XJapan, of which she is finally a fan of, no help from me... and the usual d/ling of music. Which I am in the thrall of. Love Moloko, and discovering new music everytime! Learnt how to play some songs on the guitar as well.... but u dun wanna hear that.

At night, Fathers Day dinner which consisted of going to Romanza, a big italian restaurant. Food there was decent... not spectacular, but it sufficed. I paid... which family made a big hoohah about. And thats it.

All in all an interesting weekend filled with attempted theft, swashbuckling adventure without my stolen donkey (i even had a sword), and a nice, lazy, student-type of Fathers Day. And now, Im supposed to be doing my assignment again. Sure I am.

After this episode of The Office.

PS: BIG BIG BIG HUGS TO TAKA AND LIB! Different reasons, still the same promise of support and hugs.
Taka - get out there n play!
Lib - make whatever decision you want, I'm always there if u need 30% discount off books.

My Life in the D (Brendan Benson)

My life in the D is a tragicomedy
A poetic verse
It’s voodoo some say black magic ettouffe
A dead man’s curse

It’s just like the Egyptian tombs
Tunnels leading to empty rooms
Skeptics think it’s a doctored photo
Of a U.F.O

You’re wasting your breath on life after death
Coz I’m almost sure
If hell does exist than the Devil’s a scientist
Finding a cure

It’s life microscopic size
Unseen by the naked eye
The answer’s encoded with ink
That’s invisible

When God made the earth and saw his net worth
He posed for a shot
And life in the D is what was handed to me
And that’s what I’ve got

It’s all just a hologram
Locked in a vault it’s a cryptogram
A lie on the Polygraph test
It’s detectable
