The Mind Is A Dangerous Place

Things that should boggle the mind but do not

Thursday, March 03, 2005

Ok, the end of work for the week, the start of a bright and definite glorious weekend, filled iwth peppermint and rainbows and all that fluff.

Right.

Anywaes, it seems that my site is losing its popularity among its masses and needs to be revamped, reworked and reborn. But I wun do that. I will however entertain you with a gripping tale about hiking, sun and a horse called Bob. So come along with me traveller, take my hand, and let's go to Sorrento.

(Rated PG, Parental Guidance advised)

DAY 0

Finished work and headed down to the city for dinner and movie. The House of Flying Daggers was the flick... not THAT good in my opinion. Almost plain rotten except for flying daggers and marvellous sound... and a zombie Zhang Ziyi. Laughable.
Popped by Am's place at about 12 to find that Shan's massively overpacked. She brought clothes to survive a month in a desert island. And the toiletries. Sigh. Women... go figure. Anywaes, Am, being her lovely chewy self suggested soulvaki at Lygon... at 230am in the MORNING. So we tally-hoed along, made frens with several drunks and Lukes and got soulvakis. Basically slept at 3am +++ All the usual stuff. Did I mention we had to get up at 6 the next day?

Day 1

This is a friday... a cold, dreary friday. It started grumpily, hot showers galore and Shan's trip down memory lane... or Grattan Street. This means she almost fell face-flat on the ground. But she didn't... good on her. We laughed though. We're such great frens. Met up with Lid at the tramstop and rushed to FLinders for coffee and Manli.

There... it's the train down to Frankston (1 hour) and the bus to Sorrento (another hour). Okay, I suppose it's here I have to reveal an embarressing fact that could disgust and shock you. Or not, depends on your fetish. Well, I had a little too much coffee... and my bladder was about to BLOW in the bus. It was very hellish. When we finally got off the bus... I couldn't walk properly. Sorry Manli for the bruises when I gripped you and yes, I hobbled my way to the toilet like a bloated goblin.

But it's all good. See the smile. You'll only get that smile when you're relieved.

That's when things went wrong. YHA people were not there. Meaning we had no means to get to our accomodation. And better yet, nobody, including Information, knew where our place was. LISTER AVENUE. LISTER AVENUE DAMMIT!!!!

This is the face of people who have just walked 30 minutes on a bicycle track next to the main road. There aren't any bicycle rental shops nearby a BEACH TOWN so that had us pretty perplexed. And if you're wondering why there are only girls... well... you all know I'm special. Special person with special privileges. Life is good.

I lie. They treat me bad. Help.

ANYWAES, Lister Avenue.

That's our place. Yes, it looks like a dump. But it's actually quite cozy. Enough for 10 people, we had only 5. Sigh.

See. Our place.

Didn't do much the first day, Am and Lid got bikes from YHA and went gallivanting for 35 klicks. Fun and gruelling. Me? I can't stand bikes. Don't like trees either. Hate them put together.

We also went shopping... had spaghetti at night, I went to explore the beaches nearby and got a quick nap b4 dinner. And then... night.

Night, with Taboo (we are pros now), drinks and snacks (as per requirement) and lots of bullying of people. Very very very enjoyable.

Then later at night... a menage-de-five-way. In some other alternate reality. Sigh.

Day 2

Ignore all the smiles. They are actually frozen there. Teeth strung together by ice and sub-zero breezes. It was cold. Damn 20 degrees. Beaches and 20 degrees do not go together.
We were crossing different rocks to see what they were like when I took this pic.

That's Lid. Or her back. Whichever comes first. Nice? I tot so.

Highlight of the day... Snorkelling. See us all? With the wet suits? All smiles again? Fake too. We all had some form of wedgie and were in midst of pain and breathing problems. I mean, it took 3 people to squeeze Shan into her suit!

Us all suited up and ready to go~~~~ Big guy's our overseer, German, big... can kill. I mean, muscles man.

I think that's us. Trying to swim. Wet suits keep the heat in so it's not cold... but we can't really sink... so we're like... floating along like oversized pufferfish.

And its done! We survived... many kilos of water heavier. I now know how Godzilla felt like when she was pregnant. If she was a girl of course.

Verdict? Snorkelling was a rip off... saw like... 3 fish and a couple of crabs. And seaweed. Sigh.

Nothing much at night... we were too tired to do much other than drink and tell secrets about one another. My eyebrows are raised now just thinking about the erm... stuff I found out from the others. Raised I tell you.

Day 3

This is a beach at Rosebud. Big, clean with some people. With a burning sun. We had a 30 minute suntan. Hilarious vain shit man. That's me, the third of Charlie's Angels with a pink cap and pulled up shorts. Coupled with my single pack underneath my chest, Im the epitome of manhood.

AND WE WENT HORSERIDING!!!

no pic of my horse Bob. Was fun though. Very fun indeed. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Learning to ride a horse can be put into the list of "Want to but will never do it" list.
Point to note. Lid's horse... hated to move... it's quite a comical scene seeing a small girl trying to kick a giant horse to get it to move. Very comical. Well, we all laughed.

And this is the kind of beach i wanna go. We just went there for 5 minutes on the horses and we had to leave... yyyyyyyy??????

Finally, we went home. A roundabout way of travelling unfortuantely. Got home very late. I mean, bus transfers and trains and trams. Damn man. I wanna go to the beach!!!!!

And I'm tanned! Brownish... I think. Could be grime... never could tell. Anywaes... there we go, Sorrento. I'm sick now... with a sligh cough. Survived everything, the whole week, get sick on the weekend. Sigh. Seeya around good people. I type another day.

I think I love these girls. If only they would stop bullying me.
