The Mind Is A Dangerous Place

Things that should boggle the mind but do not

So what HAS been happening these past few days of silence? Let's see, it started... on Friday. With the interview. Yes. The interview... was pretty enjoyable. Two women, both managers, well... one manager and one assistant manager, caught me out and questioned me. But it wasn't as bad an interrogation as one would have thought.
In fact, after several hard questions (esp the 'introduce yourself' one... I can never do that properly), we started talking about... stuff. Shoplifters, baseball bats, what music I hated etc. Was okay. Then we said our goodbyes and 10 minutes later, I got a call saying I got the job, start tmw. Whoopde-doo-de-doo indeed! I must have impressed ;)
Met up with a friend at night to watch a play. A cantonese play. I dunno y I things like that. End story, I didn't understand the play. Other than the language barrier, it tried to touch too many things inadequetely. It tried to show the meaning of death as a transition, to not be afraid of it. But it didn't do it well. At least I thought so. There was a great MC though, very very good at public speaking. Or just a talented actor. Whichever the case, he was good.
Dinner at Corretos, complete with dessert pizza (Chocolate, banana and peanut butter... the combination of success). Then bunkered up at Am's place, who had Shan over too. So we ate (again) and laughed about Am's 6 month at once drama. Ah.. Am's dramas... the stuff of gossip and entertainment ;)

Saturday came... and thus... work. Talk about information overload. I learnt a lot. Where books went, what were their numbers... so many numbers. How to stack them, alphabetically, subject-matter, author's names, first last names... I couldnt remember them all. And how to use the register... how to give money... how to do this... how to do that... my head was reeling. REELING. Like fish. Erm.. wasn't a joke btw. Heh...heh.. ok.
I even helped a person find a book. My manager came up to me and asked me to search the author of Dragonlance in the computer. I instantly said 'Margeret Weis and Tracy Hickman' without touching the machine.
'Sci-fi/fantasy section?' she asked. I nodded. 'Ok, come with me.' And i did, going into a discussion of the autumn twilight, winter and spring dragonlance books. Was fun doing that. I like books ;)
And I met my cousin. He came in, looked at me and told me he needed a mother's day present. Working in a bookstore, I told him to get a book. And introed some to him. After many many exclamations of the high price of these books, he finally got a book I recommended.

A good day. I like my job. It's currently rather fun.
