The Mind Is A Dangerous Place

Things that should boggle the mind but do not

Watching Diana Krall live in concert was an electrifying experience. The various elements of jazz fusing together, the rhythm and beat pumping energy, lifting the heart and soul to new heights of sensory perception. Meaning... it so totally rocked. Met up with Huiz at 7, got on a tram at 730. Show was about to start at 8pm and we shuddered at the consequences for in-punctuality. But we got there 5 minutes b4 time and breathed a sigh of relief. Inside the Palais theatre were throes of Jazz fans, chatting, drinking, waddling to the toilet, going to their seats. Which me and Huiz eventually did.

Show started soon after with a man named Mark Scholtes at the helm. A man under Verve Productions, he proceeded to switch out Lounge music with his calm, soothing voice. His three-piece band was great too, with a superb guitarist as support.

Then he was done and after a short break, the Queen, Prima Donna herself came on-stage. And when she touched those ivory keys... the world started spinning. It was fast, furious and all that jazz. It was tremulous and sweet at times. Most often, it was simply awesome music.

And that voice... that voice.... She has like one of the sexiest voices I have ever heard, which makes my soul quiver and heart want to hide for fear of being stolen. Which I think it was already so that doesnt matter now. She has charm and wit, disguised as shyness and the feelings she put into her music can move you. It moved me.
