Amidst these slow blog days, I do have stuff to report upon, starting with the perfunctory and customary "Happy New Year" to all you cool kats out there. It has been an eventful year last time and hopefully this one will be more so in a good manner. With lots of money rolling in, men and women at your sides and peace and goodwill etc etc.
So to new years eve. And what has the interesting PEP done?
Well, planned a small gathering after Leeyoong kindly offered her house for NYE. Apparantly her spot was on a high vantage point, which provided a some-what good view of the fireworks. So we trudged up there - me, Rayne, Derek, Vic Sam and Leeyoong to the apt on the hill.
Was a quietish affair, with us playing cards, poker and various other stuff. Fren called Matt came by and at the stroke of midnight, went outside to see the fireworks. Well, we did see them. Some of them. You see, a tree blocked our view. A large tree that covered about half the view. Laughable indeed but still, we caught sight of some sections and they were beautiful! Still wished we were nearer.
We adjourned and left the apt at roughly 2 and drove down to the city in Matts sweet car, getting lost somewhere along the way.
And thats where all the fun started. You see, things were ok and quiet b4 the countdown becos they werent as drunk yet.
BUT AFTER the countdown, things change. And thats where we saw a whole myriad of events.
While on our way to a cafe along Russell St, we saw an indian (perhaps) gentleman simply hit a maxicab with his fist while the taxi was still rolling along the street. The taxi stopped. And the cab driver came out, sporting a metal rod. He meant business as he walked towards the perpetrator. Indian guy's fren stepped in quick to defuse the situation and we moved on from there. As we continued our way, we passed the man who was being led away by his 2 lady frens, all the time saying that "he could take him". Ah men.
So supper came and we had our meals and when we went to pay, something interesting occurred as well. As I was looking out of the cafe to the street, I saw 2 aussies grappling playfully? in a struggle? and in the midst of their movements, smashed the window. Literally smashed it. Pieces of glass fell, no, collapsed upon a group of indonesians who were sitting right below the window. A girl was cut by glass and started bleeding. Shock halted most of our actions. But suffice to say, things started heating up. An indo rushed out with a chair, after which he dropped the chair and picked up a broken piece of glass, brandishing it towards the aussies. A guy ran down to smooth things out, I think the aussies' fren but things still werent going well.
Girl was still bleeding and the cafe had no first aid kit. Moreover, the staff had no idea wat the police/ambulance number was. I had to tell the guy what it was.
Most surprisingly though, was Derek, who marched right up to the trouble zone and offered his services in the form of a first aid kit back at his place up the road. Party agreed and so we went to get the box from his aprt and went down again. When we reached there though, somebody had already bandaged the arm and that was the end of that.
Man, Derek juz earned some rep points with me now. Talk about doing the right thing. Kudos dude.
Later in the night, we went off to find a cybercafe to play DOTA, which we did and played several bad games til 6, before going back to derek's place for sleep.
I slept at 7. And got up at 1. Im still sleepy but there we go, my New Year's Eve summed up for you pple in less than 209348230948 words.
Resolutions this year? Perhaps exercise more (or at all), do things on a more grander and philantropic scheme than the selfish ways I usually perform. Also continue on my gastronimical quests but perhaps cut down on the oil intake.
And oh yeah, find everlasting love. And a job. Maybe be rich.
Happy New Year good pple, may it be full of watermelons.
