How many times have
You heard someone say
If I had his money
I could do things my way
But little they know
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten
With a satisfied mind
Once I was waitin'
In fortune and fame
Everything that I dreamed for
To get a start in life's game
Then suddenly it happened
I lost every dime
But I'm richer by far
With a satisfied mind
Money can't buy back
Your youth when you're old
Or a friend when you're lonely
Or a love that's grown cold
The wealthiest person
Is a pauper at times
Compared to the man
With a satisfied mind
When my life has ended
And my time has run out
My friends and my loved ones
I'll leave there's no doubt
But one thing's for certain
When it comes my time
I'll leave this old world
With a satisfied mind
How many times have
You heard someone say
If I had his money
I could do things my way
But little they know
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten
With a satisfied mind
johnny cash is truly an individual. Hi, my name is EePin and I know I haven't blogged in...I dunno... a week or more, but I know you peeps love me so all is forgiven right? No? Well, Chiyo forgives me and thats all that matters.
So what's been up? Interesting thing would be the no-sleep fiasco during the days of friday and saturday. Went over to Am's for a CNY (Chinese New Year to you non-abbreviations folk out there... yes... you know who u are... dun... dun run... dun do that) after work and bought drinks to the party. Present there were the usual gang, with the stunning appearance of Am's new beau Kel, and perhaps Gloomy who hasnt been to Am's place I don't think. There my semi-weathered, soaked frens, was a feast for the senses. Visually explosive were the images of honeyed ribs, scrumptous wan tons, volcanic curry and otak ++. The smells seeped into my bloodstream, tempting the intestines to release out bouts of hydrochloric acid, triggering early moments of gastric. Noise from the women were non-aesthetically pleasing, but they cant help it, it being foreordained and all. I wasn't really allowed to touch the food with my hands, especially not the curry so I can't describe texture and what not.
But the taste.
The taste was exquisite, with every different dish offering up so much for the buds to compliment on. It could of course just be the LSD in the curry, but I think it was really awesome. Otak was too damn hot though, and me being spice-intolerant could not relish the dish to its full capacity. Kudos to the variety of chefs present. And of course, thank me greatly for bringing the drinks.
The company was admirable which could almost be described as terrific. The laughs, noise, laughs, noise, jokes, noise had me in tears. I've missed you guys... really I have. We played Taboo, which Shan kept winning even if she had Kel who thinks something bigger than a mosquito is an aeroplane.
Then we watched Saw 2.... which was perhaps a tad on the disturbing side. I watched with the fascination of the zombie, this was at 1ish and I was rather tired. I still finished the show though, to which I went to Shan's bed and konked out. That was at 3.
I woke at 6. Took a bath. Said goodbye to Shan who was still chatting to her own beau on the fone.... yes... at 6. Some pple have too much time. Then went off on the train back to Glen Waverley for another brilliant, exciting round of work.
An example of my exhaustion:
Customer: Ok, thanks... goodbye!
Me: Would you like a bag with that?
Night of Saturday saw many many many pple arriving at our house in Vermont South. They bore gifts of gossip, friendliness and generally cheer on that cold evening. It was vegetable day. Vegetable day as is custom among Hakkas. We eat vegetables and drink peanut soup. As I prodded my meagre green fare, my mind wandered to the Red Emperor, where my good friend Derek was treating other good friends to dinner. Don't get me wrong, I liked the vegetables, they were delicious.
But as the laws will tell you...
Red Emperor > Vegetables in most forms
I finally slept that night. Sleep was good.
Watched Walk the Line on Monday and it was good. I now bop to Johnny Cash's tragic, tragic songs with the upbeat optimisim all country singers have when telling tales of death and destruction. Nothing gets me more pumped than learning about how it burns when I go to hell. All with that classic bass and the dadum beat of old-school 70s rock. Ask me for his songs, I'll send them to you.
Also watched an awesome show called Kamikaze Girls. While not the most brilliantly conceived film ever, the directing and production values are amazing, and the humor very heartening. It was a good show with goth lolis and unicorned yakuzas. I will burn for u... just call my name. And Yoko Kanno did the music for it!!!!! I so guessed that when I heard pieces of it!!!!
Alright, nuttin left here. Gotta go conquer rome and get drunk this sat night. Laters ;)
